Pegasus Snooker League - Week 18

Division One

Nav Hussain leads the Pegasus Snooker League by six points after recording two 3-1 victories against Steve Booth and Zeb Ahmed respectively. It looks like the only player who can pip him to the title is Chris Piech who has three games in hand after a good four nil win against Andy Orange. Should Piech win all three matches to tie the lead he will have a slender advantage in frame difference. At the other end of the table Mike Langdon finally found some form with a solid 3-1 win over Zeb Ahmed. Langdon knocked in breaks of 41 and 32 in the win which lifts him to the heady heights of 5th.

Division Two

Jamie Walker produced a superb display to run out a four nil winner over 2nd placed Luke Robinson. The win has catapulted Walker to the top of the division in only his first season in the league. Ricky Grey enjoyed a good week picking up three points after beating Ian Westby 4-0 and drawing with Grant Humphrey whilst Eric Towle looks certain to bag a play-off place after beating Mike McGuire 3-1.

Pegasus Snooker League - Weeks 16 and 17

Knockout Cup Quarter-Final

Zed Zubair caused an upset in the Pegasus Knockout Cup by beating Gary Spencer 3-1. Zubair raced into a two frame lead with some solid potting before Spencer gave himself hope by winning the third. The pattern of the match continued into the final frame with Spencer making too many uncharacteristic errors which Zubair punished to bag himself the first semi-final spot in this seasons competitition.

Members Cup Quarter-Finals

Both Mike Langdon and Andy Orange safely negotiated their quarter-final ties against Division Two opposition. On paper Orange's tie against high flying Luke Robinson looked like a potential banana skin for the First division man but he ran out a comfortable three nil winner. Out of form Mike Langdon was worked a little harder by Ian Westby who should have taken the opening frame but a missed black gifted the frame to Langdon who then went onto win the next frame comfortably. Westby stuck with Langdon in the final frame but a good pink and black saw Langdon through to the semi-finals without dropping a frame.

Division Two

Back-to-back wins have propelled Jamie Walker above Luke Robinson into second place in the Trevor Steeples Shield Table. He brushed aside Brian Steeples four nil in the opening win before an impressive 3-1 victory over Mike McGuire. Walker is now only one point behind the league leader Danny Knowles with three games in hand.

BCI 'E' remain top despite the postponement of their match against Sherwood SC 'A'.

BCI 'A' moved into second place with a good 4-1 away win at City Hospital LC who now drop to third. There were good wins for Wayne Martin, Tony Collins (44 break) and Steve Coleman. Jason Bettridge met his match in City Hospital’s Chris Clark, who won the frame with the help of a 33 break. Bettridge demonstrated his quality with a 33 clearance but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.

Spot On (Hucknall) leap into fourth, overtaking Sherwood SC 'A' due to the posponement, with a 4-1 win over Cue Club.

Sadly, Cue Club has now closed down and its team, captained by Mick O’Neill, will immediately assume the name of its new venue, Spot On (Sneinton).

DIVISION 2

Stadium Leisure remain top of the division despite a 2-3 home defeat to Masters SC. A close match with Masters SC only collecting the win by 7 points. Top Spot moved closer to Stadium Leisure with a 4-1 home win against BCI 'D'. BCI 'B' slip to third with a 2-3 home defeat by Mapperley CC.

DIVISION 3

Ruddington CC moved 5 points clear at the top of the division with a 3-2 away win at Phoenix Cue Sports. BCI 'C' remain in second place despite a 2-3 loss to Oakleigh Lodge 'B'. Phoenix Cue Sports remain third and Oakleigh Lodge 'B' move into fourth overtaking Sherwood SC 'D' because Sherwood SC 'D' didn't have a match. The battle of the bottom 2 was won by Sherwood SC 'B' by a resounding 5-0, which leaves Oakleigh Lodge 'A' rooted to the bottom.

Pegasus Snooker League - Weeks 14 and 15

Division One

Nav Hussain has emerged as the favourite to lift the Trevor Steeples Trophy in only his first season in the Pegasus Snooker League after recording three more important victories. The opening victory was an impressive 3-1 win against last seasons champion Chris Brooks in which Hussain knocked in an excellent 51 break. It was the first loss Brooks has suffered since Matt Holt beat him by the same scoreline early last season. Hussain was then too good for Mike Langdon who he thumped four nil before a three one win over Andy Orange put him four points clear at the top of the table.

Gary Spencer missed a glorious chance to close the gap on the leaders when he let a two nil lead slip against a plucky Steve Booth. Spencer who had started the match well knocking in a 39 break was pegged back by Booth who showed great character to win the final two frames. At the other end of the table the big mover over the last two weeks has been Steve Butler who won back to back matches against Andy Orange and Zeb Ahmed to give him real hope of avoiding the drop.

With only a point seperating 5th to 9th place it looks like we're in for a nail biting end of season relegation scrap with two important matches - Mike Langdon v Andy Orange and Steve Butler v Steve Booth due to take place this week.

Division Two

Luke Robinson ran out an emphatic four nil winner against Brian Steeples as he looks to win the Second Division title. It ended Steeples record of six straight draws and leaves Robinson within touching distance of top spot. The destination of the title will now surely be decided when Robinson meets Scott Bates towards the end of the season.
